AAT ICAS usability resources
this document describes additional usability resources that may be useful for reference by ICAS developers and users. the following information sources are maintained by others. they are not part of the aatideas.org web site.
ISO usability standards
usability is represented by ISO 9241-11:1998 as the capability of a product for use by designated users to achieve designated goals in terms of effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction for a designated context of use.
User-Centered Design (UCD) is sometimes referred to as human-centered design. "Human-centered design is characterized by: the active involvement of users and a clear understanding of user and task requirements; an appropriate allocation of function between users and technology; the iteration of design solutions; multidisciplinary design" (ISO 13407:1999). more information at www.userfocus.co.uk/resources/iso9241/iso13407.html.
the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative creates standards for tagging and categorizing information. the DCMI Element Set is referenced by the ISO 15836 standard. more information www.dublincore.org.
ISO/IEC 25062 (ANSI 354) specifies a common industry format for reporting summative usability test results. more information zing.ncsl.nist.gov/iusr.
